Monticello, NY – Resorts World Catskills (RWC) announced today it is hosting the 45th annual Monticello Rotary Monster Classic Run and Walk on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 8:45 a.m. Known by many as the “Monster Classic,” proceeds from the race benefit the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition. Participants can take part in a 5K or 10K run or a 5K walk on one of the best courses in the beautiful Catskills, all to show their support for those who have served.
“Each year, this is an incredible community event that helps raise money for veterans, while also honoring their service and sacrifice,” said Meghan Taylor, Senior Vice President, Resorts World New York. “It brings us great joy once again to not only be able to host this event, but to also serve as a title sponsor, helping to raise money and awareness of our local veterans.”
Funds raised by the highly anticipated event will benefit the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition. As a title sponsor of the event, RWC will be presenting the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition with a check for $3,500, made possible through Resorts World Gives, its corporate philanthropic program, which supports innovative organizations with clear goals and proven results. In addition to the road races, there will be a mini health tent and the New York Blood Center’s (NYBC) Busmobile will be on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a mobile blood drive, as part of a collaboration between RWC and the Monticello, Liberty and Livingston Manor Rotary Clubs. The NYBC continues to deal with an ongoing blood shortage. Donating blood can save up to three lives and bring great relief for families across the state. Individuals who feel healthy and well are encouraged to donate.
To sign up, please follow this link or call 800-933-2655. Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome, space permitting. All donors should bring their donor ID card or ID with name and photo and remember to eat and drink. The NYBC only collects blood from individuals who are healthy and feeling well at the time of the donation – and who meet other eligibility requirements.
Resorts World Catskills and Resorts World Hudson Valley (RWHV) are also participating in the NYBC’s “Pint for a Pint Campaign.” To encourage people to give blood, donors who participate in drives from now to Sunday, September 10 will receive a voucher they can use to redeem for a free can of Monster Pit Boss IPA, Resorts World New York’s exclusively hand-crafted IPA beer. The vouchers are good through Tuesday, October 31 at RWC and RWHV.
